Tommy R. & Elli Möbius — two people, one passion, and day after day side by side since 2011.
Tommy learnt his craft from the ground up and has spent more than thirty years at the stove. After joining starred dining under Joachim Wissler at Vendôme at Schloss Bensberg, he held a Michelin star without interruption for ten years in Vienna and a further five in Germany. Today he shapes Möbius with a kitchen in which experience, precision and personality meet in a way all its own.
Elli has always been a host — with a fine instinct for people and a clear eye for everything that makes an evening succeed. Her path led from cultural and social anthropology in Vienna, through a second degree in trade fair, conference and event management in Mannheim, to the very role she now shapes at Möbius: understanding people, choreographing the flow of an evening, and giving each encounter the poise, structure and attention it deserves. She is the quiet precision that, behind the scenes, draws everything together and turns countless small details into one considered whole.
We met during Tommy’s years in Vienna. Even then it was our shared dream: to create a home that others would come to visit — a place where kitchen and hospitality, pleasure and atmosphere come together in a way that feels entirely its own.
Elli has a generous heart — and everyone feels it the moment they arrive. Her smile and her warm, attentive way of being create a room in which guests feel at home from the very first step inside möbius.
She listens, reads quickly what a guest needs, and watches over every detail in service. That is what makes her so singular as a host: she makes every guest feel as though they have come to visit good friends.
Tommy is a singular cook — passionate, focused, devoted to every single element on the plate. When he sets his mind to something, he gives it everything and accepts no compromise — from the choice of produce to the finishing sauce.
I admire the way he carries others along with his enthusiasm, takes them on a journey through fine dining, and finds ways to surprise them time and again. His energy, his wealth of ideas and his creativity know no bounds.
